Does love come without pain, or are they a package deal? What is so wrong about loving someone and wanting to keep them with you? It seems that distance or death, or even worse, reality, exist only to snatch away what love creates. Not sure if the pain is worth it, or if the love makes the pain endurable. Just cry the tears. Embrace the pain. They are only temporary. Love, true love, lasts.

  1. I remember feeling very much that way after a severely devastating breakup but, as with most things, that feeling passes, the pain fades and makes way for a new optimistic start. And if you’re really lucky you find a love that hurts so very little in comparison to the immensity of joy it brings you. But I do believe they are very much a package deal, sadly.

  2. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing so much pain and sadness. Your post reminds me of an ongoing discussion in my head and with others about pain and sadness. I think the quote goes something like “Pain in life is inevitable, but suffering is optional.” I wrote a post about it a while ago but the very brief bottom line (as I understand it!) is that we all experience pain but we suffer only when we hang onto that pain, when we’re unable to accept it as part of life and learn to just “be” with the feelings.

So yes, love and pain go together. But love and suffering don’t have to. Does that make sense?

    • It certainly does make sense. I don’t really want to hold on to it. Sometimes I just don’t know how to deal with it. Processing the feelings and emotions is difficult sometimes. Love this mindset though. Thanks for the comment. 🙂
